English Regency period satinwood kidney shaped writing table with pedestal ends and saber legs ending in brass casters. This elegant writing table has a hinged writing surface with inlaid hand tooled and hand dyed older red leather in excellent condition. The adjustable writing surface can be flat or raised to a comfortable sloping aspect where one can not only write but read as a book or tablet can be rested on the edge of the desk, kept in place by two brass small arms which will keep it from sliding off of the edge of the desk. These small pieces of brass rotate out of the way when not in use. There is a high arched stretcher which keeps the desk stable and firm, while not interfering with adequate knee room. Circa 1810.
