An early 19th century French Country Louis XV style enfilade buffet handcrafted of solid oak, circa 1810, by talented artisans in Rouen, the capital city of the Normandy region. The rectangular plank top with a molded edge sits above a carved frieze having floral and foliate carvings, showcasing the wonderful craftsmanship typical of the Louis XV style. Below is a beautifully carved central bank of four drawers with original brass hardware, stacked one upon the other, and flanked by raised panel doors on each side that open to reveal a single shelf for storage. Carved stiles feature vertical “C” scrolls and shell motifs. The scalloped apron is adorned with intricately carved scrolling floral and foliate tendrils with a stylized center palmette. Raised on short cabriole legs terminating in scrolled French toes. This provincial masterpiece is not only elegant but also practical, offering spacious cabinets, drawers, and a generous serving surface. Its rich patina enhances its allure, making it an ideal addition for entertaining and storing china, glassware, serving pieces, silverware, and linens.
