Great Italian painting from the first half of the 17th century. Artwork oil on canvas depicting a religious subject of fabulous pictorial quality, Christ and the Samaritan woman at the well. Jesus is traveling and decides to stop at a well. A woman of Samaritan origins approaches her and Jesus asks her for a drink. For the Jews, the Samaritans were impure heretics, so they avoided them and did not speak to them. Christ doesn’t care about this tradition and the woman reacts with amazement. Artwork of great size and impact adorned with a modern frame in wood and plaster, carved and gilded. The life-size figures are amazing, in particular the Samaritan woman is characterized by a drapery of remarkable quality. Painting that has undergone a conservative restoration, re-lined, replacement of the frame and recovery of the color in some points. Overall in good condition. Sight size H 183 x W 120 cm.
