A finely made English Georgian later silver mounted black basalt teapot decorated with classical winged cherub designs to either side and dating from around 1810. The teapot has a decagon shaped body with a large raised loop pouring handle with thumb rest and with a straight angled spout mounted with a silver end. The teapot has a raised castellated rim molded in low relief with leaf patterning repeated to the panels forming the body of the teapot with either side with a low relief winged cherub design one with an arrow and pedestal and the other leaning against a tree. Both are set within a raised oval surround and the teapot has a pierced domed filter to the body end of the spout. The teapot has a hinged fitted silver cover and has an impressed 5 mark to the base. The cover and spout made from heavy gauge silver were added in 1923 and the cover has makers marks for Sheffield, Thomas Bradbury & Sons.
In good overall with a small chip to the top edge.
